Pay Your Farm the Modern Way
Seasonal workers. Equipment dealers. Feed suppliers. Contractors.
One tool to pay them all—without driving to the bank or writing cheques.
The farm payment reality
Running a farm means managing payments that don't fit the 9-to-5 mold:
- Seasonal workers: Hire 20 people for harvest, then 3 for the rest of the year
- Equipment purchases: Big-ticket items from dealers who want payment now
- Supply accounts: Seed, feed, fertilizer—ongoing supplier relationships
- Contractors: Custom harvesters, truckers, equipment operators
- Unpredictable timing: When the crop is ready, everything happens at once
Cheques mean trips to the bank. Manual entry means time you don't have during busy season.
EFT Flow: Simple farm payments
Export your payment list. Generate a bank file. Upload from your kitchen table at 10pm if that's when you have time.
$95/month flat. Or $2,990 once. Pay 5 people or 50—same price.
How it works
Ag Expert, QuickBooks, or your own spreadsheet. Export to Excel/CSV.
Drag and drop the file.
Tell EFT Flow which columns are name, amount, etc. Saved for next time.
Workers and suppliers are matched to their saved bank details.
Generate the bank file. Upload to your online banking. Done.
Built for seasonal workforce
Farm payroll isn't like office payroll:
The challenges
- Workers hired for weeks, not years
- Crew size changes constantly
- Some workers prefer cash, others want direct deposit
- Payroll runs might be weekly during busy season
How EFT Flow helps
- Add new workers in 30 seconds
- Keep inactive workers in the system for next season
- Only include workers who want direct deposit
- Process as often as you need—no extra cost
Returning workers: When workers come back next season, their bank details are still in EFT Flow. No re-entry needed.
Supplier and vendor payments
Farms have unique supplier relationships:
- Equipment dealers: Big purchases, often time-sensitive
- Feed and seed suppliers: Ongoing accounts, regular payments
- Fuel suppliers: Keep the tanks full during busy season
- Parts and repairs: Equipment breakdowns don't wait
- Custom operators: Spraying, harvesting, trucking services
Why EFT matters: Suppliers often offer 2% early payment discounts. If you're waiting for cheques to clear, you're leaving money on the table. EFT lands faster.
Works with farm accounting software
Ag Expert
FCC's farm management software is widely used across Canada. Export your payment data, import into EFT Flow.
QuickBooks
Many farms use QuickBooks. Export vendor payments or payroll, generate bank files.
Sage
Sage 50 works the same way—export to Excel, import into EFT Flow.
Spreadsheets
Track payments in Excel? That works too. Any spreadsheet can become a bank file.
Made for rural banking reality
We understand farm banking:
- Credit unions: Many farms bank with local credit unions. CPA-005 works with all of them.
- FCC financing: Farm Credit Canada accounts work the same as any bank account for EFT.
- Distance to town: Why drive 30 minutes to the bank when you can upload from home?
- Internet timing: Generate the file anytime. Upload when you have connectivity.
Works offline: EFT Flow runs on your computer. Create your payment file even without internet. Upload when you're connected.
Cost comparison
What does it cost to pay people on a farm?
| Method | Cost | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Cheques | $1-2 per cheque + trip to bank | Hours per pay run |
| Per-transaction EFT service | $1+ per payment | Faster, but fees add up |
| EFT Flow | $95/month flat | Minutes per pay run |
Harvest example: During harvest, you might have 25 workers for 6 weeks. At $1/payment with weekly payroll, that's $150 in fees just for seasonal labour. With EFT Flow, it's the same $95 you pay every month.
FAQ for farms
Does this work with my credit union?
Yes. CPA-005 is the standard format accepted by all Canadian financial institutions—big banks, credit unions, and caisses populaires. If your credit union accepts EFT file uploads, EFT Flow generates the right format.
What about workers without bank accounts?
Some workers may prefer cash or don't have Canadian bank accounts. Just don't include them in your EFT file—pay them separately. EFT Flow handles whoever you include in your payment list.
Can I pay both workers and suppliers in one file?
Yes. A CPA-005 file can contain any mix of payments. Workers, suppliers, contractors—they can all be in the same file or separate files. Your choice.
What if I don't have internet at the farm?
EFT Flow runs entirely on your computer. Generate your payment file anytime. Then upload to your bank when you have internet access—whether that's later at home, in town, or using mobile data.
We're a family farm with simple needs. Is this overkill?
If you're making more than a handful of payments per month, EFT Flow saves time. Even a small operation with 5-10 monthly payments benefits from not having to manually enter each one at the bank.
Ready to modernize farm payments?
Pay workers and suppliers via direct deposit. No per-payment fees. $95/month flat—whether it's slow season or harvest rush.
